I want to clean user cartridges of the old liquid. Would just soaking them in water and letting dry out work? Does anyone do this now?

Hot water seems to work for everything but the batteries. Run them under the tap as hot as you can stand it. The e-juice seems to be water soluble. I blow everything out with canned air, like we use to blow our computers out with. It dries faster than just air drying on a paper towel overnight. I also saved an atomizer this way also. And you can use it NOW rather than wait for everything to air dry. I've read where people use alchol to clean cartridges but I think its a waste of aclohol since hot water works just fine.

My cartridges are very worn out.  The material tries to shred when I pull it up to the top of the cart.  I've heard ppl say they use poly batting from Walmart or Fluval.  I can't find Fluval locally, but would be willing to buy it online if it's better. ??

Does anyone know the name or color of the bag for the poly batting at walmart?

The reason it is shreding is that there is tape holding it in place..  Don't need to put any tape back in.. Taking out the old just pull . it will come out..

my 510 has tape in the cartridge?  I've pulled the batting out and it's just one compact piece of filler that looks like it goes all the way down the cartridge.   

I did buy a bag of Premium Polyester batting the other night and it seems to work well.  I'll have to play around with the density a little more to get a better draw/wicking, but it's much nicer to just use clean batting than to wash the old.  I do squeeze juice out before I'd wash them or throw them out and get about 2 ML of juice to put aside.

I mostly drip but I do use carts sometimes. This is what my experiences and what I have read on forums tells me...

Cart material is not infinitely re-usable. If you need to top off a cart after a very small number of puffs then chances are the material is spent and even though washing it might give the appearance it is usable again it will quickly become clogged up again.

If the material is easily falling apart it is also probably spent.

Carts differ a LOT. some use a dab of hot glue to keep the filler inside, some just have the filler placed inside. NEVER allow the hot glued side of a cart's material to be faced towards the atomizer. You can only flip the filler material with carts that do not use hot glue.

I wash my cart filler by running them under hot water for a few seconds. When they turn a nice white color again they are clean, no need to keep running water through them. I dry them by folding a paper towel and squeezing the cart filler material inside the paper towel on two or three dry locations on the paper towel. For me even the giant 801 cart fillers dry by the third squeeze.

Fluval is commonly used in in filters for fish tanks. It is supposed to be very common in aquarium supply places.

I have rinsed, and rinsed, and rinsed.  I have used the same 10 cartridges for about a month now, just refilling with the e-liquid.  Tastes like crap.....whether its caramel, grape or tobacco.....they all taste aweful.  I just broke down and bought 10 new blank cartridges.  If that doesn't work, i guess I will buy some new atomizers.  What say you?

yeah ,  if it tastes like burnt electronics  , your atomizer is probably burnt out  ....a burnt atomizer will still work  , but it will have a terrible taste  , dripping liquid on a burnt atomizer works for a few puffs , but it's a pain to keep dripping every 6 to 10 puffs  ....get a new atomizer
